Matthew Brun

I am a first-year PhD student at the MIT Operations Research Center, advised by Dr. Andy Sun. My work focuses on the intersection of nonlinear and discrete optimization, with applications in energy systems. Currently, I am working on EV battery supply chain optimization, and theory for Lagrangian relaxation of multiobjective integer programs.

Previously, I graduated from Rice University in 2022 with a BA in Operations Research. In industry, I have worked on manufacturing optimization projects at Chevron and ORTEC. For fun, I play trumpet and have performed with Rice’s Campanile Orchestra and Mariachi Luna Llena.
