Matthew Brun

I am a second-year PhD student at the MIT Operations Research Center, advised by Dr. Andy Sun. My work focuses on the intersection of nonlinear and discrete optimization, with applications in energy systems. Currently, I am working on optimization problems related to EV battery supply chains and the power grid.

Previously, I graduated from Rice University in 2022 with a BA in Operations Research. I have worked on manufacturing optimization projects in industry at Chevron and ORTEC. For fun, I play trumpet and have performed with Rice’s Campanile Orchestra and Mariachi Luna Llena.
